Intended Use

The BioAid® Hb pro Hemoglobin Meter is a portable meter used in conjunction with the BioAid® Hb pro Hemoglobin Microcuvette. Utilizing spectrophotometric technology, it is intended for the quantitative determination of hemoglobin (Hb) and calculation of hematocrit (HCT) in human capillary and venous whole blood. The meter is suitable for use in individuals aged 2 years and older, and is for professional In Vitro Diagnostic use only.
The microcuvette is designed for single use only, and it serves as both a pipette and a measuring cuvette. A blood specimen of approximately 8 μL is drawn into the cavity by capillary action. Measurement of the whole blood absorbance at the Hb/HbO2 isobestic point is carried out on the meter. It is factory calibrated by an international reference method and no further calibration is needed.
The BioAid® Hb pro Hemoglobin Meter provides results in less than 2 seconds. The meter can store up to 1,000 results and records can be transferred to a computer for further analysis by using the Type-C USB port. The meter can be operated with lithium-ion batteries or a power adapter.

Why To Test
1. What is a Hemoglobin Test?
A hemoglobin test measures the concentration of hemoglobin in whole blood. As the core protein component of red blood cells (erythrocytes), hemoglobin contains iron that binds with oxygen molecules effectively. It undertakes the key function of transporting oxygen from the lungs to tissues and organs throughout the human body.
Your hemoglobin level directly reflects the health condition of red blood cells. With accurate hemoglobin readings, medical professionals can diagnose blood disorders and systemic health conditions. This test is the primary clinical screening method for anemia, which is defined as insufficient hemoglobin or unhealthy red blood cell quantity.
Our newly upgraded hemoglobin testing instrument delivers stable, precise quantitative detection, supporting professional medical examination, community screening, on-site mobile testing and daily health monitoring.
2. Why Perform a Hemoglobin Test?
This device detects red blood cell parameters and hemoglobin concentration from blood samples. The test data helps medical practitioners assess physical health and screen potential hematological abnormalities in a timely manner.
Testing is highly recommended when you present symptoms related to abnormal hemoglobin levels, including both low and high hemoglobin conditions.
2.1 Low Hemoglobin
- Insufficient hemoglobin or reduced red blood cell count will cut off adequate oxygen supply to body tissues and organs, impairing energy metabolism and physical health.Symptoms of low hemoglobin include:
- Fatigue
- Pale skin (pallor)
- General weakness
- Dizziness
- Shortness of breath
- Cold hands and feet
2.2 High Hemoglobin
- Excessively high hemoglobin and overabundant red blood cells thicken blood viscosity and slow blood circulation, resulting in inadequate oxygen perfusion to vital organs.Symptoms of high hemoglobin include:
- Headaches
- Blurred or double vision
- Dizziness
- Skin itching
- Increased risk of blood clots
3. What Do the Test Results Mean?
The test report clearly indicates whether your hemoglobin level is below normal (anemia), above normal, and quantifies the severity of abnormality. It cannot independently identify the root cause of abnormal values.
Clinicians will make comprehensive diagnosis by combining hemoglobin results with other auxiliary examination indicators.
4. Normal Hemoglobin Reference Range
For adults, the standard normal hemoglobin range is 12 g/dL to 17 g/dL. Reference values vary slightly according to age, gender and ethnic differences.
Lifestyle and environmental factors may also cause temporary hemoglobin fluctuations:
- Altitude variation
- Daily dietary nutrition
- Physical exercise intensity
- Long-term medication effects
5. Implications of Low Hemoglobin Levels
Below-normal hemoglobin (anemia) indicates insufficient red blood cell production, accelerated red blood cell destruction (hemolytic anemia), or chronic continuous blood loss - the most prevalent cause of anemia.
Common underlying conditions associated with low hemoglobin:
- Iron deficiency
- Nutritional deficiencies (vitamin B12, folic acid deficiency)
- Hematologic and bone marrow malignancies
- Thalassemia
- Renal disease
- Hepatic disease
- Sickle cell disease
- Autoimmune disorders
- Acute/chronic blood loss from surgery, injury, menstrual hemorrhage or gastrointestinal bleeding
6. Implications of High Hemoglobin Levels
Certain pathological conditions stimulate excessive red blood cell proliferation and elevated hemoglobin. Temporary high readings may also occur due to body dehydration, which raises relative hemoglobin concentration by reducing blood plasma volume.
Common conditions linked to high hemoglobin:
- Polycythemia vera
- Congenital heart defects
- Specific renal diseases and renal carcinoma
- Respiratory diseases including COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and pulmonary fibrosis
7. Core Advantages of New Lithium Battery Version
Equipped with built-in high-capacity rechargeable lithium battery, our upgraded model breaks power supply limitations and optimizes portable detection experience:
Long-lasting battery enduranceOne full charge supports massive continuous testing and long-term standby use, eliminating frequent battery replacement and disposable battery consumption.
Unrestricted mobile detectionStable operation without fixed power sockets, perfectly suitable for remote medical clinics, field screening, mobile medical care, outdoor public health inspection and blood donation station testing scenarios.
Safe & durable power systemStable output power ensures consistent detection precision during long-time operation; built-in battery protection against overcharge, over-discharge and short circuit for reliable daily use.
Compact portable designLightweight main unit with integrated lithium battery module, easy to carry and operate for on-site rapid testing anytime anywhere.
