dengue combo rapid test

The Dengue IgG/IgM + NS1 Ag Combo Rapid Test (Serum/Plasma/Whole Blood) is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Dengue virus NS1 antigen and IgG/IgM antibodies to Dengue virus in human serum, plasma, or whole blood. It is intended to be used by professionals as a screening test and provides a preliminary test result to aid in the diagnosis of primary and secondary Dengue infection. The Dengue NS1 Ag & IgG/IgM Combo Rapid Test Cassette (Serum/Plasma/Whole Blood) is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay. There are two strips in the test cassette: 1) Dengue NS1 Ag test strip on the left side, which is designed for the qualitative detection of Dengue NS1 antigen in human serum, plasma or whole blood for the determination of early acute Dengue infection; 2) Dengue IgG/IgM test strip on the right side, which provide a rapid, qualitative and differential detection method to detect the IgG and IgM antibodies to Dengue virus in human serum, plasma or whole blood. The Dengue NS1 Ag test strip has two lines, including Control line (C) and Test line (T) and the Dengue IgG/IgM test strip has three lines, including Control line (C), IgM line (M) and IgG line (G) in the result window of the test cassette.

For the Dengue NS1 Ag test strip, the colored conjugate pad containing antibodies to dengue NS1 antigen conjugated with colloidal gold (dengue antibody conjugates) and a control antibody conjugated with colloidal gold; The test line region is pre- coated with antibodies to dengue NS1 antigen which can recognize the antigens from all four dengue virus serotypes. The control line region is pre-coated with a control antibody. When an adequate volume of specimen is dispensed into the sample well of the test cassette, followed with the addition of adequate volume of buffer into the buffer well, the specimen migrates by capillary action across the test cassette. Dengue NS1 antigens, if present in the specimen, will bind to the dengue antibody conjugates. The immunocomplex is then captured on the membrane by the pre-coated antibodies to dengue NS1 antigens forming a burgundy colored line in the test line region, indicating a dengue antigen positive test result and suggesting an early acute primary or secondary infection. Absence of the colored line in the test line region suggests a negative result. To serve as a procedure control, a colored line will always appear in the control line region indicating that proper volume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred;

For the Dengue IgG/IgM test strip, The colored conjugate pad containing Dengue antigen conjugated with colloidal gold (dengue antigen conjugates) and a control antibody conjugated with colloidal gold; The membrane is pre-coated with anti- human IgM antibody and anti-human IgG antibody. During testing, Dengue antibodies, if present in the specimen, will react with the dengue antigen conjugates, which have been pre-coated on the test strip. The mixture then migrates upward on the membrane by capillary action, reacting with anti-human IgM antibody on the IgM Test Line region (M) and/or with anti-human IgG antibody on the IgG Test Line region (G), forming a colored line(s) in IgM line region (M) and/or IgG line region (G). The absence of the colored lines in IgM line region (M) and IgG line region (G) indicates that the specimen does not have any Dengue antibodies. To serve as a procedure control, a colored line will always appear in the control line region indicating that proper volume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.

Why To Test

1. What is dengue?

Dengue is a viral infection. It can be caused by four related viruses. You can get it if an infected mosquito bites you. It is common in warm, wet areas of the world. Although rare, it can be found in some parts of the United States. Outbreaks are more common during rainy seasons.

2. How does dengue spread?

Dengue spreads to people through the bite of an infected mosquito. It does not spread directly from person to person. However, the infection can be passed to the baby during pregnancy. In rare cases, it can spread through a blood transfusion, organ transplant, or needle stick injury (an accidental injury from a used needle)..

3. What are the symptoms of dengue and severe dengue?

About one in four people infected with dengue will get sick. For those who do get sick, the infection can be mild or severe. The symptoms of dengue include:

● A high fever

● Nausea and vomiting

● Rash

● Aches and pains (eye pain, usually behind the eyes, and pain in the muscles, joints, or bones)

The symptoms usually last two to seven days.

Severe dengue is a serious form of the illness. About 1 in 20 people who get sick with dengue will develop severe dengue. It can cause shock, internal bleeding, and even death. People are more likely to develop severe dengue if they have had dengue before, are pregnant, or are infants.

Watch for signs and symptoms of severe dengue. Warning signs usually begin about 24 - 48 hours after your fever has gone away. If you or your family member have these signs, get immediate medical care:

● Severe abdominal (belly) pain and tenderness

● Vomiting at least 3 times in 24 hours

● Bleeding from the nose or gums

● Vomiting blood, or blood in the stool (poop)

● Feeling tired, restless, or irritable
