Intended Use

The Urinalysis Controls are assayed urine control intended for use in validating the precision of visual and analyzer reading of dipsticks urinalysis for one or more of the following analytes: Ascorbic acid, Glucose, Bilirubin, Ketone (Acetoacetic acid), Specific Gravity, Blood, pH, Protein, Urobilinogen, Nitrite, Leukocytes, Creatinine, Albumin and Calcium.
The quality control for urine dipsticks is available in two levels and is ready to use for monitoring routine urinalysis within the clinical range. The results should be compared to the expected values listed to ensure the consistent perfomance of BioAid® Urinalysis Reagent Strips and UA-201 Urine Analyzers.
The BioAid® Urinalysis Controls for urine dipsticks can only be used with BioAid® Dipsticks, UA-201 Urine Analyzers. Ensure reproducible results by inverting the urine control bottle 3 times before each use. Interpretation of visual results depends on several factors: the variability of color perception, the presence or absence of inhibitory factors, and the lighting conditions when the strip is read. Each color block on the color chart does not correspond to a specific concentration, but it does correspond to a range of analyte concentrations. Use the results provided as reference only. It is recommended that each laboratory establish its own parameters of precision.

Why To Test
● To ensure accuracy: Testing control materials with known values confirms that the chemical reagents on the test strips are reacting properly.
● To check for errors: Controls can help identify issues with the test strips themselves, such as degradation from exposure to air, which can cause false results.
● To validate the process: Running a control test validates that the technician and the equipment are performing the test correctly before running patient samples.
● To prevent misdiagnosis: Without proper quality control, a false-negative result could mean a patient's urinary tract infection or kidney issue goes untreated, while a false-positive could lead to unnecessary further testing or anxiety.
● To ensure quality standards: Routine quality control is a standard part of laboratory practice to meet quality assurance and accreditation requirements.
